Out of all the supplements I have encountered, definitely one of my favourites, (in the top 10 or so…out of thousands), is Grape Seed Extract (GSE). Generally revered for its dual fat and water-soluble antioxidant properties, the biggest reason I like it so much is for its effects on increasing the strength and flexibility of the connective tissue matrix, and preventing the degradation of the collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid that comprise it.

This has far reaching effects on the health of your skin, joints, gastrointestinal tract, arteries, capillaries, and micro-circulation in the brain… just to name a very few of the instances where maintaining the integrity of your connective tissues is important.

GSE has also been shown to possess numerous anti-cancer properties, for example, to induce apoptosis (programmed cell-death) in colorectal cancer cell lines. See this link and others in my article on GSE.

GSE is an extremely versatile supplement. As the absolute importance of maintaining your connective tissue continues to be elucidated for providing a host of benefits, and preventing an untold number of health challenges, I predict Grape Seed Extract will soon rise right back up into the spotlight.

I personally take 200 mg every morning, and find it to be particularly useful when combined with collagen supplements, such as Opti-Joint that provide all of the ground materials for building new connective tissue. If you are looking to heal or protect these tissues, remember this combination. Its one we’ve used countless times to help people.

Be well,
John
